Meet Whinny!
In the true spirit of Scrap4Art, Whinny came to us as a donated hobby horse that had been very well loved. She stayed with us for awhile and soon it dawned on us that she had found the perfect home with us, right here at Scrap4Art. Our very talented store manager - also a dedicated volunteer - Linda Shetzer took Whinny home and recreated her into our fabulous mascot. Whinny will live at our shop to greet all of our patrons. Please stop by to welcome her! And while you're here, explore our shelves and see if you find something YOU can give a new life to.

Scrap4Art Leads A Creative Workshop
Empowering Communities To Prevent Sexual Violence
Scrap4Art was honored to lead a creative workshop at the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence’s annual retreat at Maumee Bay State Park Lodge. As Ohio’s statewide coalition, OAESV advocates for comprehensive support and rape crisis services for survivors while empowering communities to prevent sexual violence.
Inspired by this year’s OAESV theme, Hope • Build • Thrive, Linda Shetzer designed a hands-on mixed media project called Build Boxes. Participants transformed Altoids tins into personalized keepsake boxes using donated creative materials from Scrap4Art, including vintage papers, embellishments, and collage supplies.
Each attendee also created up to ten small cards filled with affirmations, self-care reminders, and inspirational quotes. The cards were beautifully decorated with watercolors, rubber stamps, and other mixed-media techniques, creating a meaningful collection of encouragement to carry home. The finished Build Boxes serve as a portable reminder of hope, healing, resilience, and personal strength.

Beth Sheets has devoted more than 30 years to advancing art education as a lecturer and instructor at schools and universities across the region.
A passionate advocate, she has also lent her expertise to numerous organizations, most notably as a founding board member of Scrap4Art since 2006. Beth not only helps guide the organization’s mission of sustainable, community-centered art education but also takes on hands-on roles - from organizing donations to leading free craft activities at local festivals. Beyond Scrap4Art, she has presented at dozens of events and professional conferences, and served on the boards of seven arts and education organizations. Her exceptional contributions have been recognized with numerous teaching awards, underscoring her impact as an educator, advocate, and community leader. Congratulations, Beth!

BELIEVE IN GIRLS
EXPO NORTH
Believe in Girls (B.I.G.) Expo North was held at the Glass City Center on Saturday, September 21. Nearly 2000 attendees learn to program robots, wire electricity, try archery, meet firefighters and policemen, to name a few activities.

Scrap4Art had a table where girls could design bendable straw people with pipe cleaners, beads, yarn and straws. There was no limit to their creativity and no two dolls looked the same. We received many compliments on the creative activity. Nice conversations with Scout Leaders as they wait for the scouts to create.
Scrap4Art Participated In The Crosby Festival of the Arts
Budding artists of all ages came to the Family Tent at the Crosby Festival of the Arts to create their own masterpieces. They used repurposed button badges to make dazzling flowers and crazy animal characters.
